About

In 2021, while working a job as a Pre-Production Intern, I was introduced to FFmpeg an open-source software project intended to process multimedia files such as video or audio. I was completely blown away by the ease of editing enabled through this software. Intrigued by this product, I started doing more research on the developers and the impact of FFmpeg itself and was blown away by how much more accessible storytelling and content creation became with this open-source project.

After learning just how integral FFmpeg had become to the film industry, I realized how necessary it was to learn software development, seeing how it currently created the basis for most of our livable society. I have seen a multitude of creative individuals who not only had a vision to create and a story to tell but had no tools to do so. How many other individuals were in that position, and how could software engineering provide a solution to that? How many projects would have been made if access to a free open source code platform was more accessible to all and easier to use? I started realizing how Software Engineering could allow individuals their creative dreams and goals.
